Rain on a Tin Roof

Persephone in winter
crumples under the weight
of a pomegranate split:
a ruby geode cupped in two hands.

Her hair hangs black in curlers
made of Steel Reserve cans.
A cigarette burns from one red lip.
Patsy Cline pines distantly for her man.
